Have you ever found out about a new Danielle Steel or John Grisham book, put the book on reserve and learned that you were number 14 or 114 on the waiting list? The Neenah Public Library provides a service that may help you avoid that scenario. If you have an email account and would like the library to notify you when books are placed on order, you may sign up for our mailing list.
Members of the "First in Line" mailing list receive email notification when new, noteworthy novels are placed on order by the library. The list covers the genres of fiction, mystery, science fiction, and western. Since both the author and genre appear in the subject heading of the message, if you aren't interested in the book you can delete the message without having to read it. The message includes the title, author, publication date, and a brief summary of the book, if possible. If you would like to have the item placed on reserve for you, all you have to do is reply to the message and include the entire barcode number from the back of your library card. Voila! You're now one of the first people on the waiting list.
- You will not be overwhelmed with email. Only notices about bestselling and noteworthy authors will be sent. It will not be a comprehensive list of every novel ordered.
- Notices are sent once the item has been ordered by NPL. Since publication dates vary, the actual item may not arrive for a few months.
- Your privacy will be protected. We have set the mailing list up so that no one else will see your email address. If you reply to the message, the reply will only be sent to the library, not the entire list.
