Susan Garcia Franz, a parent of a child with dyslexia, will present some of the basics about dyslexia and share her experience and journey as a parent of a dyslexic child.

Susan is a member of Decoding Dyslexia - Wisconsin and the Winnebago County Chapter of Decoding Dyslexia - Wisconsin. Decoding Dyslexia has chapters in 50 states, 4 Canadian Provinces and is growing internationally. Decoding Dyslexia - Wisconsin is working to raise awareness, empower families to support their children, and inform legislators about best practices to identify, educate, and support students struggling with reading in Wisconsin. Decoding Dyslexia – Wisconsin is diverse group that includes parents, researchers, educators, pediatricians, speech pathologists, and legislators.

Come for support, to share experiences, learn about available resources. Free presentation; open to all, registration not required.

                                                    NPL Filmmakers Club

Ages: Teens

Come be a part of NPL's first ever filmmaking club for teens! Join us as we endeavor to write, produce, and screen an original short film. Registration is required so please call the youth desk at 920-886-6335 to sign up! The first session will focus on conceptualization and writing the script. It will run weekly Tuesdays @ 4pm from October 9-30!

Thursday, November 1

Drop in for a friendly game of chess every Thursday evening from 6:00pm until 8:00pm. All ages and skill levels are encouraged to attend. Even if you have never played, but are interested in learning, stop by and we will teach you. No registration or chess boards required. Chess is played on the library's second floor.

Bring music you're working on, something you're having trouble with, play a solo or a duet for the group, play along with your fellow ukers. All skill levels welcome!

Ukers will meet in the first floor Story Time Room.

Sunday, November 4

In partnership with Lawrence University, the Neenah Public Library is excited to announce, “Giants of Jazz.” Each of the four performances will highlight a different jazz legend and will begin with a brief lecture; offering a historical context and a lesson on jazz appreciation. Then Lawrence students will perform selected works by the featured artist. Join us for our session on Charles Mingus, Sunday November 4th at 2:00pm in the library’s Shattuck Room.
