History Program-The History of the Tuesday Club

Did you know that Neenah’s Tuesday Club women were discussing women’s suffrage and other important topics at their weekly meetings as early as the 1880s? In fact, this club of forward thinking Neenah women started in 1884.  As part of our “Making a Hometown” program series, the current women of the Tuesday Club will intertwine their club’s history with local and national history in this very engaging presentation.

Door County Wisconsin boasts one of the highest concentrations of lighthouses of any county in the United States. With its lengthy coastline, much of it rocky and treacherous, mariners of long ago relied heavily on these sentinels for safe travel. All of the county’s 11 lighthouses will be explored, with special emphasis on Cana Island—Door County’s most visited lighthouse. Archival and contemporary photography highlight the presentation.

Wisconsin's Circus Heritage with Peter Shrake, Archivist, Robert L. Parkinson Library & Research Center

Circus World’s Robert L. Parkinson Library and Research Center is the world’s foremost research facility for circus history. The holdings document the history of the American circus from its inception in 1793 to the present day. There have been over 100 Circus shows in the state of Wisconsin.  Come and listen to Peter Shrake share the history of the Circus in our state.
