THE COLOR PURPLE  (PG-13, 2 hour, 21 minutes)

A woman faces many hardships in her life, but ultimately finds extraordinary strength and hope in the unbreakable bonds of sisterhood.

 

All movies are shown in the Shattuck Community Room located on the 1st Floor of the library.

Featuring author Christopher Chambers live and in person! We will be discussing the story "Carl, Under His Car," from Chamber's new collection, "Kind of Blue," as well as a story chosen by Chambers ("Even Greenland" by Barry Hannah.) This is a very special Short Story Night you won't want to miss.

Chris is a Wisconsin native who’s lived in Michigan, North Carolina, Minnesota, Florida, Alabama, Texas, and Louisiana. He was a professor of creative writing and taught at the University of Alabama, Loyola University New Orleans, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is former editor of Black Warrior Review, New Orleans Review, Midwest Review, and Wisconsin People & Ideas, and he’s the author of two books of fiction. He has a degree in English from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and an MFA degree from the University of Alabama.

April Tech Topic: A Guide to Social Media

Join us for monthly Tech Talk discussions to learn about a variety of technology topics. With a new topic each month, we will discuss everything from online security to social media to the digital library!

2nd Tuesday of the month, October to April in the Yaz Community Room. All interested individuals are welcome to attend, registration is not required.

Winnebago Free Legal Assistance Clinic is a non-profit organization consisting of volunteer attorneys and paralegals who provide free legal assistance to the community on most civic legal issues.

The clinic operates on a first-come, first-served basis from 4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.  The services provided are limited and may include: a brief legal consultation with an attorney (or referral to an attorney if one is not available); assistance with legal forms; assistance with legal procedures; and guidance to additional resources.

When attending a clinic, please bring any paperwork that is relevant to your case so the volunteers can better assist you.

No appointment needed.

Wednesday, April 10

All skill levels are welcome to drop in and play Mah Jongg between 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. in the first-floor Storytime Room. A few Mah Jongg sets will be provided, along with cards. If you have your own Mah Jongg card, please bring it with you.

Free, open to all, and no registration.

Thursday, April 11

 

All ages and skill levels are welcome! Chess sets will be provided. Coaching and beginner help is available. No registration is necessary. The event takes place on the library's second floor and lasts from 5:30 pm until 8:30 pm.

Special note for this week! The Ukulele Open Jam group will meet at the New Moon Cafe in Oshkosh (401 N Main St, Oshkosh, WI 54901) on April 11th at 6:00 PM. 

Bring music you're working on, something you're having trouble with, play a solo or a duet for the group, play along with your fellow ukers. All skill levels are welcome!

Jam sessions last up to 90 minutes.

Friday, April 12

The Library will be closed Friday, April 12, due to electrical panels being replaced. Patrons may pick up holds curbside between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., and the book drops will remain open.

Saturday, April 13

Come play classic video games in a friendly competition. This all-ages event is perfect for gamers of all skill levels. Featuring retro arcade and NES games. Prizes awarded for high-scores*.

This year will feature even more video games stations! So expect shorter wait times between turns.

Sunday, April 14

The Neenah Public Library is excited to have the University of Lawrence Student Quintet back for a series of spring jazz concerts. Join us at 2:00 pm every Sunday in April as we celebrate Jazz Month. This year the students will be focusing on the groundbreaking work of Charles Mingus (April 7th), Ornette Coleman (April 14th), Kenny Garrett (April 21st), and Jaimie Branch (April 28th). These are all-ages show.

No reservation necessary. Concerts take place in the Shattuck Room.
