This month we will discuss books by authors coming to the Fox Cities Book Festival. Read one or more books by an FCBF author and share your thoughts about the book. We hope you will join us for this lively discussion. We will meet on the second floor in the Alyward Room.

Valerie Stabenow of the Winnebago County Master Gardeners will provide advice on how to prepare your garden for the winter.

Thursday, September 27

Drop in for a friendly game of chess every Thursday evening from 6:00pm until 8:00pm. All ages and skill levels are encouraged to attend. Even if you have never played, but are interested in learning, stop by and we will teach you. No registration or chess boards required. Chess is played on the library's second floor.

Musician and native Hawaiian, Sam ‘Ālika Bader will be teaching a four-week ukulele class from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Library’s Storytime Room. Bring your own ukulele or reserve one of the Library’s ukuleles. An extra loaner ukulele is also available for use during classes.

A ukulele open jam follows each Thursday night class. Open to anyone interested in playing with other ukulele players. Bring your own ukulele – banjoleles and guitars welcome, too (and whatever else you’d like to play). Music provided – or bring a piece you’d like to share with others. The open jams are held from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Bring music you're working on, something you're having trouble with, play a solo or a duet for the group, play along with your fellow ukers. All skill levels welcome!

Ukers will meet in the first floor Story Time Room.

How did Neenah and Menasha women of the past contribute to the life, vitality, and leadership of our two cities? You might be surprised! Join the Neenah and Menasha Historical Societies for a combined program on the history of some of our most interesting and progressive women of the past. Neenah Historical Society Executive Director, Jane Lang, and Menasha Historical Society Vice President, Kathy Humski, will join forces to present this interesting program which will inform and inspire.

History programs are sponsored by the Neenah Historical Society and co-sponsored by the Neenah Public Library

Saturday, September 29

The Neenah Public Library is hosting a Retro Video Game Tournament Saturday, September, 29th from 10:00am until 12:30pm. Featuring randomly selected NES, Sega, Atari, and Classic Arcade games, this event is perfect for all skill levels and ages. A pizza lunch will be provided for all participants.

Are you interested in learning how to play Dungeons and Dragons? Join us in the second floor Aylward Room at the Neenah Public Library. We are starting a Dungeons and Dragons group and are looking for participants. This is a great introduction for newbies, or people simple looking for a gaming group. No registration is required for this free event.

While this group is for adults 18 and older, we are in the early stages of assembling a teen group as well. So stay tuned.
