Children will become inventors themselves as they are invited to help with the experiments. This program is best suited for ages 4 and up (ages 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult).

“The Zany Inventor” is part of our SOAR into Summer Reading program. The program is free and open to everyone, and will run about 45 minutes. Space is limited – pick up your free tickets at the Youth Desk beginning July 22.

WeeRead is a multi-aged story time for children and their caregivers.  We will share songs & stories, learn rhymes - both old and new, and shake our sillies out with lively music.  Each story time will end with a puppet show and a rhyme to take home. This story time lasts 25-30 minutes.  We recognize that story time is a learned experience and that 30 minutes may be a bit too long for our littlest friends.  Please come for whatever amount of time works for you and your child.  You are welcome to slip out and come back either in a few minutes or another time. We are prepared to keep things flexible so that kids of every age will have a fun story time experience!

What will I experience at Lapsit Storytime with my 2 or 3 year old?  Expect to hear 3 or 4 age-appropriate books read, to dance - maybe with scarves or shaker eggs, and to learn some new finger rhymes.  You'll have an opportunity to meet Penelope the Puppet who loves Poetry, to guess what's in the Mystery Bag, and to watch a puppet show on the 'big' puppet stage.

Lapsit is a lively storytime with many short segments designed with the attention span of  2 and 3 year olds in mind.

All programs are sensory friendly.  If a half hour of Lapsit is a bit too long for your child, please come for whatever amount of time works for you and your child.  You are welcome to slip out  - and come back either in a few minutes or another week!

Neenah Library’s Engaging Reads summer book group for kids ages 8-11 will hold its second meeting at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 26. Share the thrill of a good book during our lively group discussion and interactive nature survival presentation by a guest naturalist. Snacks will be provided.

Select one or two or more titles from Lauren Tarshis’s I Survived series; there are 18 titles in all. Titles include The Sinking of the Titanic, The Japanese Tsunami, and The Destruction of Pompeii. These historical fiction books will take you back in time to discover disastrous events through the telling of a young main character. Follow this character on his or her quest for survival. Read, think, and share your adventure with us at our meeting. Do you have what it takes to survive?

Copies of the books are available at the youth desk. Kids can read the book alone or enjoy as a family read-aloud.
