She is co-editor of "Gendered Identities: Critical Readings of Gender in Children's and Young Adult Literature", 2016 by Routledge. She grew up in a small town in Wisconsin. Always a lover of a good story, she spent her days reading and dreaming of being a writer, though she never wrote any fiction until much later. Most of her time goes to shuttling her kids to dance and trying to get the glitter off the kitchen floor as well as planning trips to much warmer destinations. Her debut novel, THE HAUNTED HOUSE PROJECT, published in 2016 by by Sky Pony Press."

The 10th Annual Fox Cities Book Festival presents an event with author, Jerald Podair. "The opening of Dodger Stadium in April 1962 launched Los Angeles on a path to becoming a twenty-first century global supercity. But the bitter arguments over whether, where, and how to build the stadium nearly tore the city apart. Jerald Podair will read from his new book, City of Dreams: Dodger Stadium and the Birth of Modern Los Angeles and discuss how a ballpark built on a hill overlooking downtown Los Angeles created seemingly intractable racial and class divisions in the city but also set the stage for Los Angeles to shed its provincial image and take its place as the world city we recognize today. What is a city for? What purposes should it serve? How much should “progress” cost? The people of Los Angeles fought over the answers to these questions as Dodger Stadium was built between 1957 and 1962. That battle continues in the 21st century in a modern “LA” that the stadium helped create, offering lessons to any American city wrestling with the price – human and otherwise – of growth and change."

This Fox Cities Book Festival event is free and open to all interested individuals. The presentation will take place in the first floor Shattuck Community Room at the Neenah Public Library, please join us for a wonderful event!

The 10th Annual Fox Cities Book Festival presents an event with local Neenah author, Roberta Capasso discussing the story behind her book, Sky Woman Lives in Me. "A photo of an elderly Native American woman on exhibit in a museum captures the attention of a child. Forty years later, this child, now an adult, finds the photo again and learns the old woman is a relative. She begins to research her past-only to discover the pain endured by her relatives as they resisted a governmental campaign to eradicate Native American cultures, languages, and communities in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries."

About the Author
"This book took me fifteen years to research and write. I agree with Dawn Walschinski, Editor of the Oneida Newspaper, Kalihwisaks, that my process of writing this book probably started when I saw a photo of an elderly Oneida woman in the Milwaukee Museum when I was seven years old. Why I couldn’t stop seeing the image of this elderly lady in my mind for years haunts me. Ironically, four decades later in the year 2000 I see the same photo, hanging on a wall in my sister’s home."
